Candy Meat Loaf

Heat oven to 400 degrees. You’ll want to cook this on a rack on the middle rung of your oven.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds grass fed ground beef
  • 1/2 cup of quick cook oats (if old fashioned oats process in food processor or blender until broken up, about three 10 second bursts)
  • 1/2 cup of ketchup
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp bacon grease
  • Spices – to taste
    • Onion powder
    • Garlic powder
    • Smoked paprika
    • Cayenne pepper
    • Salt
    • Pepper

Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined. In a foil lined loaf pan (fold a sheet of heavy duty foil over until it fits in the loaf pan on the bottom with two ends extending over the handles) or cookie sheet form meat into a loaf shape. Add additional ketchup to core top. Cook at 400 for 40 minutes to 1 hour or until done (internal temperature 165 or higher).

Begin with two pounds of uncooked beef.
